The City of Hoonah relies on barge and air service for the transport of all goods into and out of the community, and sought to improve reliability and safety of their barge landing. Solstice was brought on by the City of Hoonah to obtain authorization from NMFS under the MMPA, ESA, and Magnuson-Stevens Act, as well as from USACE and from Alaska DEC, for construction of a bulkhead dock, barge ramp, and associated mooring infrastructure. Solstice worked with the City of Hoonah to obtain funding for the project through a Port Infrastructure Development Grant, and completed an environmental assessment to comply with NEPA.
